Micro Pantry
We support our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. A free micropantry just outside the entrance of our building is available for anyone to take food as they need or leave food as they are able. Peace disciples also provide non-perishable items to keep the micro pantry stocked. You can help, too!
Grace Food Pantry
The disciples of Peace are generous supporters of the food pantry at Grace Lutheran Church. Peace provides financial and volunteer support to the Grace Food Pantry and holds special collections throughout the year to provide specific food items.
Blackhawk Elementary School
Peace is a partner of Springfield’s Blackhawk Elementary School. Our disciples provide meal baskets for families in need at special times of the year — Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas — and gifts at Christmas, and they help support the library with books, financial donations, and volunteers.
Hear from Blackhawk about how this support makes a difference:
Quilts and Personal Care Kits
A group of Peace disciples meet weekly to make quilts that are sent to Lutheran World Relief for use around the world following disasters. We also make personal care kits for LWR that provide towels and hygiene products.

Helping Hands
Several times each year, our disciples provide a full meal for more than 100 people at Helping Hands of Springfield, a support organization for people experiencing homelessness.
Highway Cleanup
Our disciples care for God’s creation. Through the Illinois Department of Transportation, we have adopted a two-mile stretch of road in front of our building and along our neighborhood for trash cleanup.
More
These are just a few of the ways we help our neighbors, and we are always looking for more ways to serve others just as Christ serves us.
